The Best Electric Scooters in Australia with Removable Battery

The battery of an electric scooter makes a big difference in the overall ride quality. You can make the most out of your maximum range and extend it further. Electric scooters with built-in external batteries aren’t common, and removable batteries are rare. We looked around and scoured the market to find the best electric scooters with these unique features.

Mearth S Pro

The Mearth S Pro is a long-range commuter electric scooter from Australia. It has a top speed of 32 km/h and a maximum range of 40km. This is matched with 10-inch tyres to provide a smooth and stable ride. It outperforms the rest of the scooters at this list with a price tag of $1099. While it’s no budget scooter, Mearth S Pro has proven to be better than Ninebot Max and Xiaomi Pro 2.

Segway ES2

The Segway ES2 is a popular brand that’s often compared to the Xiaomi M365 electric scooter but they’re all from the same company – Ninebot. It has a maximum range of 25 km, which can go up to 45 km with an external battery. It’s not as fast as Mearth S Pro, but in Australia, the most that you’ll need is 25 km/h according to speed regulations. Segway 2 is around the same price as the Turboant X7.

Turboant X7 Pro

The Turboant X7 Pro electric scooter is the upgraded version of the Turboant X7. The Pro version is able to fix some of the problems of the Turboant X7 with a redesign – the removable battery is now detachable – but it still suffers from a faulty throttle and wobbly stem at low speeds. It has the same specs as the Mearth S Pro, but with a  tested range of 25km/h far from the advertised 38-40km, weighs more at 15kg and charges longer at 6 hours. The retailer also ships from the US. The reason it’s included it is because of its price. There are only a handful of electric scooters with removable batteries so the competition is low.

Removable batteries add another convenient feature to the electric scooter. You can buy an M365 electric scooter and add the external battery yourself, but this could prove to be more of a hassle than a benefit. It adds weight to your scooter and turns it into a fire hazard. Fortunately, you can pick an electric scooter from the list and save yourself the trouble.
